Filming in America…

So, here I am sitting in Starbucks in Big D listening to an instrumental version of “I’m So Lonesome I Could Die” over the SBUX speakers. I came here to unwind after a weird experience which I will share with you:

I went downtown to film some shots of typical American life and continue warming up my chops on the Canon 550D. Well, it turns out you can’t film in America anymore. I was filming in the Plaza of Americas and was promptly kicked out and made to delete all the shots I had taken inside of there. So I moved outside which I figured was a “free” place and then a different security guard showed up and said people were asking if I was a terrorist filming buildings. He said he was surprised the police hadn’t stopped me yet because of 9/11. So I packed up and came to Starbucks.

8 years ago when I first went to China I had incidents happen there like this. Now it seems I can film more freely in China than America. Interesting…

On a side note, I can’t believe it’s taken Starbucks this long to appear on the new blog.
